DEVELOPING FOOTBALL IN TAVISTOCK
Football in Tavistock looks to have a very bright future largely thanks to the fantastic facilities the Town has to offer. From the summer of 2010 the new Crowndale pitches were available to use, and the football centre is now officially open. Included in this building are new multiple changing rooms, a new grandstand for Langsford Park, and a coach education/Community room which is available for hire.
Just over the road from the Crowndale Football Centre is the College, which also boasts some of the best sporting facilities in the South West. The College’s third generation all weather pitch is used for many of the football activities that take place in Tavistock which include; Men’s 7 aside league, holiday camps, girls’ taster sessions, club training sessions and the Mini Soccer centre.
Working together with the College, and the School Sports Partnership Neil Jordain also coordinates the School-club link programme where
free football sessions are offered to the local Primary Schools. These sessions take place in either curriculum or non curriculum time, and provide a clear sustainable link for the children who attend these sessions to take the next step into club football. School festivals, and competitions are also an important part of the School-club link programme, where some children will get there first taste of competitive football.
The information on this website is designed to give the community an idea of the football initiatives that are taking place in the local area.
